A report in the Guardian newspaper about an old interview with the martyr Ali Larijani: – Deep down, Ali Larijani always believed that Western powers were determined to destroy the Iranian revolutionary regime – This internal belief was confirmed in a fatal way as Larijani became the latest figure from the regime to be killed by “Israel” – This belief came to the surface when the Guardian newspaper interviewed him in June 2006, when he was in the midst of long and complex negotiations with the West over the Iranian nuclear program – I asked him whether he saw Western concerns about the Iranian nuclear program as… “Sir, I think you know the answer to this question. If it weren’t for nuclear, they would invent something else… The pressure they are putting on us is enough for us to be skeptical.” Twenty years later, the interview seems eerily prophetic, too, as Larijani warns that “the price of oil will rise tremendously” if a conflict breaks out, and speaks of the possibility of closing the Strait of Hormuz.
